𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The Best Undergraduate Student Paper Competition is organized by the UP School of Statistics to recognize outstanding papers in the field of Statistics written by undergraduate students.

𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

Submissions should include the following documents: (1) Manuscript following the 2026 BUSPA guidelines, (2) Accomplished endorsement form (to be signed by all competing authors and the concerned faculty member), and (3) Accomplished certification form (to be done individually by competing authors).

𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬

Eligible to compete are papers authored by at least one student or graduate of the BS Statistics program of the UP School of Statistics who satisfies any of the following: (i) a graduate as of Midyear AY 2024–2025, (ii) a graduate as of 1st Semester AY 2025–2026, or (iii) a candidate for graduation this 2nd Semester AY 2025–2026.

All papers submitted for the competition must have been completed during the undergraduate study of their respective authors as part of their course requirement in the program and must have used statistical tools in their analyses.

Authors found guilty of cheating/dishonesty shall be barred from receiving the award, even if they are co-authors of the winning paper. Provided, further, that authors who have been suspended for one (1) year or more due to conduct as defined in the rules and regulations governing fraternities, sororities, and other student organizations, and the UP Anti-Sexual Harassment Code shall be barred from receiving the award.
